TUI TRUST  WHO ARE WE?

Tui Trust is a registered Charity CC10123 established in 2003 by Tania Simpson to support educational, environmental, social and cultural development. We aim to interrupt the inter-generational cycle of disadvantage ensuring all children have access to quality education and opportunities.

Our purpose is to support the well-being of children using a holistic approach, which includes the uplifting of their cultural identity, the alleviation of poverty and a reconnection with the environment. The areas we currently support are Hamilton, Huntly, Ngāruawāhia, Taupiri and the greater Waikato area.

We have an office and our Board Meetings are most likely held at Trust Waikato, Little London Lane, Hamilton City. Our current Trustees are Piki Knap and Fonteyn Moses Te Kani, an advisory team of Natalie Muller, Craig Barrett, Elsa Wrathall, and an executive administrator Lee Major who manages the day-to-day operations and project management. Lee reports month-end via email to the Board summarising all operations (Tui Trust Planning and Monitoring, TTP&M) and Craig Barrett Bakertilly Staples Rodway provide financial statements.

 

ACCOUNTS

Our Accounts are reconciled monthly by Bakertilly Staples Rodway Hamilton, bank statements, reports, GST and end of year Performance Report is provided to us. Our accounts are sponsored by Craig Barrett at Bakertilly Staples Rodway.

 

PURPOSE STATEMENT

  • Represent Tui Trust in a manner consistent with its mission, purpose, function and principles.

  • Regularly assess Trust activities and feedback on organisations performance.

  • Engage in group decision-making and help develop an inclusive sense of shared purpose. Decision making will be consensus where possible.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Attend/participate in quarterly Board meetings including AGM, either in the Board Room or via Zoom/remote.

  • To raise ideas, concerns and suggest priorities consistent with our vision and ensure our objectives are being addressed and fit for purpose.

  • Support fundraising ideas and grant applications. The main source of the entity’s cash and resources are donations, grants, sponsorship, sales of goods and fundraising events.

  • To ensure our monthly accounts are reconcilled accurately and bills are paid on time every time.

 

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A background in accounting, innovation and strategic thinking, entrepreneurial and business development.

  • Understanding how poverty affects families and children i.e. the effect that poverty has on a childs access to quality education.

  • People who are passionate about our environment, maara kai and food sustainability, child health, well-being and education - in particular how we can work with our communities to lift literacy rates for children with learning differences/diversities.
